Call for Nominations: UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea Research in the Life Sciences Prize

Brief description: UNESCO invites Members States in consultation with their National Commissions, and non-governmental organizations in official partnership with UNESCO and active in a field covered by the Prize to propose candidates for the UNESCO–Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences.

About the Award: Awarded every year, the UNESCO–Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences is intended to reward projects and activities of an individual, individuals, institutions, other entities or non-governmental organizations for scientific research in the life sciences, which have led to improving the quality of human life. The Prize encourages research as well as the establishment and development of networks of centres of excellence in the life sciences.

Eligibility: Candidates shall have made significant research contribution to the life sciences to enhance the quality of human life.
Selection Criteria: The prizewinner(s) shall be selected by the Director-General of UNESCO on the basis of the assessments and recommendations made to her by an international jury.
Number of Awardees: three
Value of Research: US $300,000 (Three hundred thousand United States dollars), a diploma and a medal.
Duration of Research: The Prize of US $300,000 shall be awarded once a year, on an initial basis for five years
